The Corporate Engineer is directly involved with the Corporate Operations team and individual bakery’s Engineering departments with an overall goal of assisting in improving the reliability and efficiency of the bakeries. This position will require interaction with all internal department's, 3rd party vendor and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Engineering department performance audits and identify opportunities for improvement
- Hands-on evaluation of condition of industrial bakery equipment of various types
- Monitor and assist with the maintenance and improvement plans and strategies within the bakeries
- Develop and drive corrective action plans for bakery maintenance departments that are not meeting performance measures
- Model safety leadership with maintenance/engineering teams
- Support the bakeries in identifying improvement opportunities, providing technical support and troubleshooting
- Research and present new equipment, programs, processes, equipment, etc. that will positively impact the bakeries
- Provide technical assistance and information as needed
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Critical Skills and Expertise
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background with high standards
- Strong background in safety for industrial environments
- Strong preventive maintenance (PM) background with skills in developing effective PM procedures.
- Predictive maintenance (PdM) experience is desirable
- Desire to coach professionals for growth and excellence in maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability processes
- Experience with industrial automation and controls (e.g. PLC, servos, etc.) is desirable
- Previous experience managing in a union environment is desirable
- Self-starter who can work effectively with little supervision
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently
- Demonstrate good leadership, decision-making, project execution and communication skills
- Utilize strong analytical skills to solve problems and make decisions based on limited precedents or guidelines
- Excellent conflict management skills and ability to partner with other organizations to be successful and resolve issues
- Excellent organizational skills and flexibility to work in a fast-paced work environment
Minimum Education/Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a technical field, preferably with food manufacturing or consumer goods industry
- Competent in Microsoft Office and CAD software
- 2+ years of leadership experience in a Maintenance department preferred
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting preferred
- LME or equivalent electrical license preferred
- Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering preferred
Travel: Frequent travel to other facilities (50%)
