This is a highly detail-oriented and operationally impactful role where accuracy and compliance are essential to business continuity. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven, with strong emphasis on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll and benefits operations while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Your responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with Finance on payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and general ledger alignment.
  • Overseeing payroll tax compliance, including monitoring regulatory changes, managing tax accounts, and resolving notices or discrepancies.
  • Administering U.S. employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and voluntary offerings, ensuring accurate enrollment and eligibility management.
  • Supporting open enrollment cycles and working with brokers and vendors to ensure smooth benefits administration.
  • Maintaining compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA) and ensuring accuracy of benefits documentation and HRIS integrations.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries, providing guidance to employees and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring multi-state compliance requirements and identifying risks or process gaps.
  • Supporting HR compliance reporting (e.g., EEO-1, BLS filings) and internal audits.
  • Driving continuous improvement of payroll and benefits processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and employee experience.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented payroll and benefits professional with strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of U.S. compliance requirements. You should be analytical, organized, and confident working in complex, regulated environments. Key qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of experience in multi-state payroll administration and U.S. employee benefits management.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, statutory filings, and federal/state/local regulations.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws, wage and hour requirements, and benefits structures.
  • Experience working with HRIS or payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now or similar preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll and benefits topics clearly.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field (preferred).
