Job Summary
Water Wizz is seeking a Director of Maintenance to lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all attractions, water systems, facilities, and grounds. This is a senior leadership role responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, seasonal start-up and shut-down, and capital improvement support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, safety-driven, and experienced leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensure safe operation and maximum uptime of all attractions, equipment, and facilities through proactive inspections, preventive maintenance, and rapid repair response
· Build, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs, SOPs, and documentation for all assets
· Lead seasonal planning and execution including pre-season start-up, commissioning, testing, winterization, and post-season shut-down
· Direct daily maintenance workflow including work order priorities, labor allocation, and shift coverage
· Hire, train, schedule, and manage performance for full-time and seasonal maintenance team members
· Oversee attraction, facility, and grounds inspections with accurate documentation, follow-up, and issue resolution
· Manage water systems maintenance including pumps, filtration, plumbing, mechanical systems, and water features
· Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements including OSHA practices and proper chemical handling and water quality standards
· Manage inventory control, purchasing, parts organization, and vendor relationships to optimize cost and reliability
· Develop and manage maintenance operating and labor budgets and provide clear reporting to leadership
· Coordinate with contractors, manufacturers, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory agencies as needed
· Support capital improvement projects by helping define scope, timelines, vendor coordination, and execution
· Participate in on-call leadership needs during the operating season including weekends and holidays as required
Qualifications
· 5 or more years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a high-traffic environment such as a water park, amusement park, resort, hospitality, large facilities, manufacturing, construction, or similar operations
· Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pumps and filtration, and general facilities maintenance
· Proven experience building and running preventive maintenance programs and leading urgent repair operations
· Experience leading teams across multiple shifts and seasonal ramp-up and ramp-down cycles
· Strong organizational skills including documentation, asset tracking, inventory control, and vendor management
· Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions and operate effectively in a physically demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
· Water park or aquatic facility maintenance experience including slide systems and water attractions
· Certified Pool Operator certification or willingness to obtain quickly
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
· Combination of office work and hands-on field leadership across the park
· Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work on feet for extended periods
· Work involves outdoor exposure including heat, sun, humidity, and rain, and may include work around noise, moving equipment, heights, confined spaces, and chemical environments with proper PPE
