About Department 472 - Reactor Plant Planning Yard
The Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY) provides Engineering, Design, and Logistics life cycle support to all fleet submarines, the Moored Training Ships, and the S8G Prototype. The organization maintains technical expertise for nuclear and non-nuclear propulsion plant systems and equipment. Our mission is to provide the US Navy five-star support that increases submarine Operational Availability and Capability.
The Propulsion Plant Provisioning group performs supply support functions for all submarine and training platforms. The team works closely together to solve problems for the NAVY every day to help support the mission to keep the fleet stocked and operational.
Role Overview
This position is responsible for the technical review and oversight of development and maintenance of Rector and Propulsion Plant Provisioning Technical Documentation (PTD) for Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) in support of all classes of submarines, training platforms, and shipyards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that PTDs are technically correct and issued within the budget and time constraints of the schedule, while maintaining quality, to meet ship key events
- Internally track workflow of products, create lean processes where warranted, and develop ways to improve production
- Technically assess Ship alterations and change documentation and assist in developing scope/budget estimates
- Review engineering changes and assess for provisioning impacts
- Coordinate with Engineering management and personnel, and be the technical Point of Contact (POC) for development, review and approval support of PTD
- Interface with System Engineers, Program Office, Management, and NAVSEA Customers related to technical PTD requirements
- Assess Consolidated Problem Reports and direct the provisioning actions accordingly
Responsibilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; particularly Word and Excel
- Organizational Skills – i.e. maintaining work lists and tracking due dates, open items, and lessons learned
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 1-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred
- Familiarity with Reactor and Propulsion Plant Systems and System Diagrams
- Knowledge of Supply Support Products, ARTEMIS, EVMS and familiarity with other ILS products a plus
- Familiarity with vendor drawings and parts lists
