This role offers a high-impact opportunity to support a rapidly growing, content-driven organization within its finance leadership team. Acting as a key partner to the Controller and CFO, you will help strengthen accounting operations, improve financial processes, and support scalable growth. You will oversee critical accounting functions including month-end close, reporting accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards. You will also contribute to the development of financial systems, automation initiatives, and operational improvements. You will be responsible for leading accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization while helping build scalable financial processes.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management to support strong execution.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review account reconciliations and financial analyses prepared by the accounting team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including capital and operational planning.
- Improve accounting processes and implement automation to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements, incorporating updates as needed.
- Assist in developing financial and operational reporting to support leadership decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, finance teams, and cross-functional partners to provide insights and financial analysis.
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including prior team leadership responsibilities.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing GAAP-compliant financial statements and reports.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience with SAP Business One (SAP B1) is a plus.
- Background in distribution or publishing industries is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and accountable mindset.
- Fully remote work environment with flexible structure (occasional travel to Columbus, Ohio area as needed)
