Position Summary: There is currently a need for one (1) Terminal Operator at the Jefferson Energy North Terminal, located in Vidor, Texas. This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position with bi-weekly pay, and work hours are a 12hr shift rotation with some overtime and on-call support required. This role includes repairing and maintaining pipeline equipment and ensuring the safe operation of DOT-regulated liquid facilities and pipelines. The selected candidate will report to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
Job Purpose: The purpose of the Operator position is to assist and conduct Jefferson Energy Operations tank transfers, pipeline transfers, ship/barge operations, loading and unloading of trucks, plant troubleshooting, product blending, and maintenance support.
Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Operate Jefferson Energy Terminal control room.
- Connect hoses and loading arms to ships and barges. Monitor barge/ship operations, ensuring they are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Monitor liquid transfers on pipelines to ensure safety, quality, and quantity, are in compliance with federal code, regulation, and meet Jefferson Energy standards.
- Must complete DOT OQ qualifications to complete regulated tasks.
- Operating valves, pumps, vapor recovery skids, for transfers to and from the Truck/Rail rack.
- Calculate innage and outage gauges from strapping charts to ensure all calculations are accurate.
- Perform custom blending activities in the blending area to ensure quantities and quality Jefferson Energy standards are achieved.
- Supports maintenance with tasks such as valve and gasket changing, prepares equipment for maintenance, and works with Maintenance Lead to perform preventative maintenance items.
- Plans, executes, and monitors Safe Work permits.
- Provide accurate and complete data for all records and documentation required within specific job functions.
- Complete all required training documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with other departmental functions to provide timely completion of prioritized job tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain a safe working environment and promote continuous improvement to the facility and processes.
- 100% compliance to all safety procedures & PPE requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties and Expectations:
- All Operators are expected to become cross trained and work all Operator positions.
- Be available for on-call support for unplanned and incidental shift needs.
- All Operators will be members of the Jefferson Emergency Response Team, to include firefighting, rescue, Hazmat, and first aid.
Requirements/Skills/Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, and legally authorized to work in United States.
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must possess, or can obtain, a valid TWIC card within 30 days.
- Must pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and background check, as well as random DOT drug testing.
- Must pass respirator fitness exam and fit testing.
- Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as well as required overtime/on-call support.
- Associate degree in Process Technology preferred.
- One-year terminal experience or similar industry experience.
- Control room experience preferred.
- Cross functional candidates are desired.
- Knowledge or experience in Emergency Response is a plus.
- Self-motivated.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required for effective interfacing with co-workers, contractors, etc.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions including walking, bending, stooping, climbing, digging, lifting and general manual labor.
- Ability to climb storage tanks up to 80’ in height.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., sometimes repetitively.
- Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
