Description: About the Role:

The Senior Director – Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment to join our legal team reporting to the CLO. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in labor and employment law, will demonstrate the ability to handle the unique workforce challenges of a dynamic aviation environment, and will be a collaborative team player who understands our business objectives and can effectively balance legal risks with operational needs.


A Day in the Life:
In this role, you will:

• Serve as the primary legal advisor on all labor and employment matters, including employee relations, wage and hour compliance, workplace safety, discrimination and harassment claims, and leave administration


• Advise on and help manage employment-related disputes, agency charges (EEOC, DOL, state agencies), and litigation in coordination with external counsel, including drafting agency position statements


• Draft, review, and update employment policies, handbooks, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws


• Provide day-to-day counseling to JSX Corporate Soul and business leaders on hiring, performance management, discipline, terminations, and reductions in force


• Advise on labor issues and Railway Labor Act compliance as applicable to aviation operations


• Partner with executive leadership to provide strategic legal guidance on workforce planning and employment practices that align with JSX's business objectives


• Coordinate legal representation for JSX with external counsel as required


• Conduct legal research and offer practical advice on diverse employment matters including ADA/FMLA compliance, wage and hour laws, workplace investigations, and aviation-specific employment regulations


• Collaborate across departments to provide solutions-oriented legal guidance that supports business objectives


• Develop and deliver training programs on employment law topics

  • Required Education & Experience:
    Education
  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Experience:
  • 10+ years practicing labor and employment law (large law firm and/or in-house)
  • Significant experience advising on employee relations, employment litigation, and compliance
  • Aviation or highly regulated industry experience preferred

  • Licenses & Certifications:
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas
  • Board Certification in Labor & Employment Law preferred


  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, OSHA, and state equivalents)
  • Knowledge of Railway Labor Act and Airline Deregulation Act preferred
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively use legal AI tools
