Position Overview

The Director of Sales will be responsible for leading and managing the company's sales team, developing and executing strategic sales plans, and driving revenue growth. This role requires a proven leader with exceptional sales acumen, a deep understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team. The Director of Sales will report directly to Executive Leadership and will be a key member of the leadership team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a hybrid environment—splitting time between in-territory travel for client engagement and remote work for planning, reporting, and virtual meetings. You’ll play a critical role in identifying and securing new builder accounts, ensuring successful onboarding, and serving as a trusted senior advisor to key clients.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 10+ years of proven success selling building products—preferably cabinets, millwork, or interior finishes—to residential builders
  • In-depth understanding of home-building cycles, procurement processes, and construction project timelines
  • Proficient with modern CRM platforms and virtual meeting tools
  • Familiarity with builder procurement systems, schedules, and operational workflows

  • Strong consultative sales skills and the ability to nurture long-term relationships

Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified builders
  • Conduct outreach, product demos, showroom tours, and compelling proposals that convert leads into active customers

Sales Cycle Management

  • Lead the full sales process: pricing, contract negotiation, and closing
  • Tailor solutions that align with builder needs and market dynamics

Onboarding & Implementation

  • Collaborate with design, operations, and logistics teams to ensure flawless first deliveries
  • Define success metrics and onboarding milestones with each new account

Market Intelligence

  • Stay ahead of trends in housing starts, builder mergers, code shifts, and design preferences
  • Recommend product and service enhancements based on field insights

Sales Process Optimization

  • Promote CRM best practices and improve quote-to-cash cycle efficiency
  • Foster collaboration across sales, design, and operations teams

Team Leadership and Management

  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage a high-performing sales team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members to foster professional growth and ensure targets are met.
  • Establish sales compensation plans and incentive programs that motivate the team and align with business objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and manage performance improvement plans as necessary.

Sales Operations and Process Improvement

  • Oversee the sales pipeline
  • Develop and enforce standardized sales processes, best practices, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Identify and implement technology and tools to enhance sales productivity and reporting.

Key Account Management and Relationship Building

  • Directly manage relationships with key strategic accounts and high-value prospects.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
  • Negotiate and close complex, high-value deals.
