CONSTRUCTION - ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER (APM)

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Facilitate the completion of construction projects and ensure an adequate and timely flow of materials and equipment.
  • Determine supply needs through technical details and schedules.
  • Manage the orders for material and equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate the delivery of supplies according to priorities and specifications.
  • Work with PM and management to resolve problems and speed up the delivery of orders.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies for different jobs or sites.
  • Monitor the construction process and ensure that projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Uses engineering and technical knowledge to ensure that components, systems, and equipment complement the project.
  • Coordinate construction scheduling and provide communication with project management regarding progress and conflicts.
  • Perform work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Travels to assigned sites daily.
  • Typically reports to a project manager daily.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of construction expediting or relevant position/experience
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Ability to understand technical specifications of material and equipment
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to solve problems
  • Confidence on the phone, as the role requires you to speak with vendors to get equipment and materials to sites on time
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and filing systems
  • Strong time management, negotiation, and organization skills
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Travel will be required to project sites in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field
  • 3-5 Years of relevant work experience
  • Negotiation skills
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
Physical Demands:
  • Performance of these duties may require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, walk distances, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Performing this job requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, talk, and hear (bells, whistles, etc.), stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; highly precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment is usually moderate to very loud. May perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
