American Flexible Products maintains ITAR-compliant operations. OVERVIEW:
Our Machine Operator / Assembler will be safety focused on all their responsibilities of set-up and operation of swing arm die cutting, production equipment and assembly processes according to written and/or verbal instructions. The operator may be assigned primarily to a specific piece of equipment but will have a working knowledge of multiple processes or small equipment pieces and know our acceptable product quality specifications, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent product for our customers.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Set-up, operate, and monitor the machine process to assure quality production
- Ensure productivity goals are met by monitoring run speeds, set up times and coordination of support departments.
- Communicate with other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting of defective material, coordination of job preparations, change overs and daily shift information
- Troubleshoot and correct problems with raw materials or equipment
- Accurate recording of production function and material usage in our ERP system at the time of completion and usage
- Comply with all safety rules including active participation in all safety trainings
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment
- Perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of machine operation and assembly in a manufacturing environment
GENERAL SKILLS:
- Team player who is self-motivated, a fast learner, and shows initiative in completing and understanding production needs
- Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently
- Proficiency with basic mathematics
- Ability to read blueprints
- Mechanically inclined and production oriented
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to apply their knowledge/experience and open to learning new skills
- Willing to put in extra hours whenever needed
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency with basic computer skills and ERP systems preferred. Epicor experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak) fluently in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stand for a long period of time. Great hand/eye coordination, and ability to occasionally lift to 25 lbs. Open to overtime as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will spend time in a manufacturing environment. The work area in the production environment includes exposure to noise, moving machinery and a temperature-controlled environment. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.
