Position Overview
This position is for a System Administrator to provide Tier 2 Technical Helpdesk and Operational Support within a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. The role supports geographically dispersed enterprise IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring continuous availability, operational stability, and compliance with federal security standards.
The System Administrator will provide remote technical administration, troubleshooting, and steady-state operational support for enterprise systems, servers, networks, and desktop environments in a high-availability environment supporting 94 Offices across more than 252 locations worldwide.
Must be U.S. Citizen
Must be able to support 24/7 operations (shift-based environment)
Position may require onsite support as required
Must live within 30 minutes of Columbia, SC
The primary scope of duties include
- Provide 24/7 remote, over-the-phone administration, support, and technical assistance to IT Systems Manager staff across 94 offices
- Manage and monitor mission-critical IT infrastructure within a Network Operations Center environment
- Provide steady-state systems administration and operational monitoring of enterprise systems
- Troubleshoot enterprise server, network, and desktop issues across geographically dispersed environments
- Install and manage system security patches and software updates
- Perform hardware and software upgrades and system lifecycle support
- Support data storage, retrieval, and system optimization activities
- Create, modify, verify, and monitor backup jobs and data replication processes
- Support backup, restore, and recovery operations for enterprise systems
- Maintain documentation and assist in research and analysis to resolve configuration or system conflicts
- Support enterprise-wide system upgrades, deployments, and change management initiatives
Minimum Candidate Requirements
- 6 years IT Help Desk or customer support experience in a Windows Active Directory environment of similar size and scope; OR
- 6 years of experience supporting computer systems, Windows Active Directory, networks, IT operations, and IT hardware in an enterprise IT environment; AND
- Minimum 2 years of IT customer support experience
Security Requirements
Must be able to attain up to Secret Clearance (see additional details below)
Scope of Work and Requirements
The System Administrator must possess a strong working knowledge of enterprise networks, servers, and desktop applications, with the ability to multitask effectively while managing phone calls, email requests, monitoring dashboards, and incident queues.
Responsibilities include:
- Primary systems administration within a Windows Active Directory enterprise environment
- Support of file/print servers, domain controllers, application servers, and media storage systems
- Management of DNS, Organizational Units (OUs), Active Directory Sites and Subnets, GPOs, ACLs, and user account administration
- Hardware installations, wiring/cabling support, rack relocations, and power source coordination
- OS configuration, troubleshooting, system optimization, and steady-state maintenance
- Backup media rotations and system recovery operations
- Monitoring enterprise systems to ensure compliance with organizational standards
- Executing enterprise-wide upgrades and configuration changes systematically
Skill Sets Anticipated
- Expertise supporting Windows Active Directory enterprise environments
- Experience performing steady-state administration and monitoring of enterprise systems
- Ability to install and manage system security patches and patch management processes
- Experience supporting desktop and laptop enterprise deployments using automated deployment technologies
- Ability to perform hardware installations, system upgrades, and infrastructure support
- Experience supporting enterprise backup, restore, and recovery operations

Additional experience includes
- Enterprise SCCM deployment and patch management
- Monitoring OS and security patch compliance
- Managing enterprise Active Directory components including DNS, OUs, GPOs, ACLs, user accounts, and security groups
- Monitoring systems for operational compliance and resolving issues proactively
- Supporting enterprise-wide system upgrades and configuration changes
- Providing steady-state monitoring and secondary administration for infrastructure systems including rack hardware, power sources, and cabling
