About This Position
Bigbelly Solar is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Materials Specialist to support our Service Distribution operations in Lexington, KY. This role is critical to ensuring the timely and accurate fulfillment of service parts that support Bigbelly’s smart waste and recycling systems deployed across North America and globally.
The Materials Specialist is responsible for receiving, picking, packing, and shipping service parts and materials accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role directly supports field technicians, service partners, and customers by maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring prompt order processing.
Key Responsibilities
Order Picking & Packing
- Accurately select service parts and components from warehouse inventory.
- Inspect items for damage or discrepancies before shipment.
- Package materials securely to prevent damage during transit.
- Prepare documentation and labels for outbound shipments.
Shipping & Receiving
- Load and unload delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
- Receive inbound materials from suppliers and internal facilities.
- Scan barcodes and update inventory systems in real time.
- Coordinate outbound shipments via parcel and freight carriers.
Inventory Management
- Organize and maintain stock locations for service parts and components.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Ensure accurate inventory records within warehouse management systems.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies or supply issues to the Manager of Distribution for Service.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment.
- Safely operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and other warehouse equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and quality standards.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Frequently lift and move items weighing up to 49–50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, crouch, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment around moving machinery and materials.
- Operate independently while collaborating closely with a small team.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience with FedEx, DHL, UPS shipping software is a plus
- Ability to learn proprietary software systems
- Experience with ERP systems
- Ability to work independently
- Previous warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience preferred.
