About the role

Are you a hands-on engineering leader who thrives on improving developer experience, automation, and cloud infrastructure? Join our collaborative and innovative team developing technology that contributes to better patient care and health outcomes. We’re looking for an experienced Software Manager (Tooling) to lead our Software Tooling Team and drive improvements across our software development lifecycle, build systems, deployment processes, and engineering platforms.

What you'll do

As the Software Manager (Tooling), you will lead a highly skilled team responsible for enabling efficient, secure, and scalable software development practices across the organisation. You’ll balance competing priorities, work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, and contribute technically where needed.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while mentoring and guiding a team. Key responsibilities includes:

• Manage and communicate tooling feature and improvement backlogs
• Lead requirements gathering and technical documentation processes
• Prioritise team workloads and cross-functional requests to align with business priorities
• Define and promote best practices for secure, repeatable build and deployment processes
• Design and improve cloud deployment solutions for internal and production systems
• Develop tooling and automation solutions using Golang and Python
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows
• Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to improve productivity and platform reliability

Qualifications/Experience

• Strong experience with Golang and/or Python
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience with platform engineering, developer tooling, or DevOps practices
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Helm
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar platforms
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical teams
• Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder requests effectively
• Experience in Software Development, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or similar roles
• Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
