Function of Position:
The Part-Time Rush Range Caretaker is a seasonal position (April through November) requiring 10-20 hours per week. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing outdoor conditions.
Responsibilities are approximately 95% outdoors, maintaining the MCC Rush Range property in Rush, NY, with the remaining 5% spent in the garage performing equipment maintenance. All tools and equipment are provided by the facility.
Work hours are flexible but must be scheduled around the Range's shooting and training activities. Evening and weekend hours may be required, particularly for mowing and general grounds upkeep.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Mowing grass
- Weeding upper and lower Range
- String trimming fencing, curbing, walkways, building, and garages
- Using a blower to clean walkways, parking lots and access roads
- Spring clean-up includes: picking up debris, cleaning out around plants, weeding, hand raking, edging, mulching and some seeding. During this season there is weed control, trimming of trees, plants, tree clearing (as required), and edging walkways.
- Fall clean-up includes: Removal of leaves, trimming, preparing grounds for winter and winterizing equipment.
- Mower maintenance; small engine maintenance.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of PSTF equipment, which can include: Ferris Zero Turn Mower, John Deere Tractor w/front end loader, backpack blower, hedge clipper and chainsaw, Stihl hand blower, trimmer, Little Wonder edger, and Husqvarna Power Washer.
- Able to work independently
- Experience maintaining live round bullet trap ensuring safe use.
- Able to lift 80 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned AAS degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution
- Computer skills
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: $30/hour

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
This position is based at 492 Stony Brook Road, Rush, NY 14543. The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 80 pounds. Work is primarily conducted outdoors and involves exposure to varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities also include maintaining PSTF equipment, such as inspecting and cleaning tools; mixing gas and oil fuel; fueling equipment; performing oil checks and changes; cleaning and replacing filters; checking tire pressure; restringing trimmers; sharpening blades; and completing routine preventive maintenance and winterization.

In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
