The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Light Mechanic in the Public Works Department, with an application deadline of Friday, May 1st 2026. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.
Nature of Work
This is manual and mechanical work servicing automotive vehicles and other equipment and performing minor repairs. Work is performed under the continuing supervision of the Shop Foreman.

Education, Experience, Other Requirements
- Completion of high school and some experience in the servicing of automobiles or other equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possession of a valid North Dakota commercial driver's license and proper endorsements (Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement).
Compensation and Benefits
- The assigned salary range for the position of Light Mechanic under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is a Grade 46, which is $18.99 per hour- $28.19 per hour or $39,493- $58,627 annually.
- This is a full time, FLSA Non-Exempt position eligible for overtime.
