Community Liaison III
Reporting to the Consultation & Engagement Manager for the Mount Nansen Remediation Project, the Community Liaison III is a community-based role focused on strengthening the relationship between the Mount Nansen Remediation Limited Partnership (MNRLP) and Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) with a focus on good faith, trust, open and regular dialogue, transparency, cooperation and trust. Leveraging their lived experience and cross-cultural knowledge, this important role will act as a bridge between MNRLP and LSCFN and help advance the implementation of agreements and the Project overall. $48 - $52.88 an hour
Reporting to the Consultation & Engagement Manager for the Mount Nansen Remediation Project, the Community Liaison III is a community-based role focused on strengthening the relationship between the Mount Nansen Remediation Limited Partnership (MNRLP) and Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) with a focus on good faith, trust, open and regular dialogue, transparency, cooperation and trust. Leveraging their lived experience and cross-cultural knowledge, this important role will act as a bridge between MNRLP and LSCFN and help advance the implementation of agreements and the Project overall. Responsibilities
- Act as the central point of contact between the project team and LSCFN community members, leadership, and technical advisors.
- Facilitate two-way communication to share project information, gather feedback, and address community questions or concerns.
- Work with Elders, Knowledge Holders, and community representatives to document and integrate traditional knowledge relevant to environmental, cultural, and land use considerations.
- Provide input on strategy, culturally appropriate engagement approaches and support community participation in project meetings, workshops, and site visits.
- Support the inclusion of community values and perspectives in community facing communication and documentation, Project reports, EA submissions, and regulatory documentation through early input and review.
- Coordinate community meetings and community site tours.
- Support implementation of the agreements between MNRLP and LSCFN
- Complete other projects, reporting and tasks as assigned.
- All other related duties as required.
- Experience in building relationships and engaging with Indigenous groups and Government and working in cross cultural settings.
- Knowledge of LSCFN Final Agreements, Self-government Agreement and Constitution considered an asset.
- Experience in leading Indigenous and community consultation and engagement for capital projects is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience in Yukons impact assessment and licensing regime for resource development projects, considered an asset.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be based in Yukon, with preference given to candidates located in the Village of Carmacks.
- Preference given to Indigenous candidates and LSCFN citizens.
- Post-secondary education, training, or equivalent community experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Traditional knowledge, community leadership experience, or experience supporting Elders/youth programs will be considered in place of formal education.
- Normal office working conditions
- Frequent travel will be required to multiple locations including the Mount Nansen Project site and surrounding communities.
$48 - $52.88 an hour
