Position Summary (Maintenance Technician | Facilities | Property Maintenance)The Maintenance Technician I supports the Facilities Manager by performing routine building maintenance, basic repairs, and groundskeeping across agency residences, program locations, and administrative offices.
This role ensures that all properties are safe, clean, and maintained according to agency standards while supporting daily facility operations.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position and may be considered essential during emergencies or severe weather conditions.

- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of general maintenance or home repair experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to travel between agency locations using an agency vehicle
- Ability to safely operate basic maintenance tools and equipment
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and ability to follow direction
- Assist with routine maintenance and repair tasks at residential homes, program sites, and administrative offices
- Identify and report maintenance issues or repair needs during site visits
- Perform basic repair tasks including painting, minor fixes, and equipment support
- Maintain exterior areas including trimming shrubs, clearing debris, and seasonal upkeep
- Assist with snow removal and weather-related maintenance
- Support general landscaping and property appearance
- Complete basic maintenance tasks including:
- Replacing light bulbs
- Changing HVAC filters
- Minor lock repairs
- Cleaning gutters
- Carpet cleaning and floor care
- Moving furniture and equipment
- Assisting with appliance installation
- Safely operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain security of agency properties and proper control of keys
- Maintain daily logs of completed maintenance tasks
- Complete weekly and monthly facility checklists
- Communicate regularly with the Facilities Manager regarding progress and needs
- Travel frequently between agency locations (approximately 90% local travel)
- Assist with agency vehicle logistics including service and repairs
- Support vehicle tracking and equipment installation as needed
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to urgent maintenance needs
- Maintain availability and responsiveness during assigned on-call periods
- Cooperate with Our House, Inc., the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities during inspections or investigations
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate maintenance and landscaping equipment
