About This Position
We are looking for a hands-on, self-directed technician to support our trailer division. This role splits time between performing on-site DOT inspections and light trailer repairs in the field and performing trailer repair and fabrication work in our shop.
This is not an automotive mechanic job. This is trailer system work: brakes, air lines, suspension parts, wiring, landing gear, and steel structure.
If you’re comfortable working under trailers, solving problems independently, and doing a mix of field and shop work, this is a great fit.
What you’ll do in the field (2-3 days/week):
Perform DOT trailer inspections at customer sites
Adjust brakes and replace brake chambers
Repair air line leaks and fittings
Replace ABS sensors and wiring
Diagnose and repair trailer lighting issues
Perform minor suspension and landing gear repairs
Write clear notes and estimates for larger repairs
What you’ll do in the shop:
Trailer structural repairs (crossmembers, floors, rails)
Suspension and landing gear replacement
Wiring and lighting repairs
Light fabrication and welding
General trailer repair work alongside our trailer team
You might be a good fit if you have experience with:
Trailer repair or fleet trailer maintenance
Welding, fabrication, or equipment repair
Farm, heavy equipment, RV, or field service work
Working independently without constant supervision
You must be comfortable:
Working alone on customer sites
Talking with drivers and customers professionally
Getting dirty and working under equipment
Taking ownership of your work without a service writer
We will train you on DOT inspection procedures, air brakes, and ABS systems if needed.
This is a highly respected role in our shop that requires trust, professionalism, and mechanical common sense.
Compensation based on experience.
