This role offers the opportunity to lead strategic customer relationships while driving long-term growth and value across a portfolio of key accounts. As Director of Customer Development, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, aligning solutions with institutional goals and ensuring measurable outcomes. You will own the full customer lifecycle—from engagement and success planning to renewals and expansion—while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver a seamless experience. This position requires a consultative mindset, strong executive presence, and the ability to translate insights into impactful strategies. Working in a fully remote and mission-driven environment, you will help organizations maximize their return on investment while strengthening long-term partnerships.
- Build and nurture executive-level relationships, including C-level stakeholders, to establish trust and long-term partnerships
- Act as a strategic advisor, understanding client challenges and aligning solutions to drive measurable outcomes
- Own and execute customer success plans, ensuring adoption, engagement, and ROI optimization across accounts
- Drive contract renewals, negotiations, and expansion opportunities including upselling additional products and services
- Manage a portfolio of accounts, balancing priorities while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless and impactful customer experience
- Track performance metrics, pipeline, and customer health using CRM tools, ensuring accurate reporting and forecasting
- Identify and develop customer success stories to support references, case studies, and broader growth initiatives
Requirements:
- 12+ years of relevant experience in higher education, customer success, account management, or related fields
- Strong background in student success, enrollment management, institutional research, or data-driven environments preferred
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior executives, including delivering high-level business reviews
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex accounts simultaneously
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of driving renewals and revenue growth
- Experience working cross-functionally and coordinating internal teams to achieve customer outcomes
- Proficiency with Salesforce and productivity tools such as Google Workspace
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
