Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum is an award-winning cemetery with over 500 acres of land featuring wide sweeping green lawns, flowing fountains, stunning architecture, historical monuments, vibrant flower beds, and blossoming trees. We are seeking an experienced and detailed-oriented senior accountant to contribute to our team in a demanding and growth-oriented environment. A qualified candidate should possess a strong history of delivering results in a fast-paced environment as well as a solid track record of organization, interpersonal, and analytical skills. This is a fully onsite position. Remote work is not available.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
• Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
• Prepare financial reports and perform account analysis on a monthly basis.
• Reconcile investments accounts, maintain the general ledger and fixed assets schedule.
• Assist with external audit preparations.
• Prepare, analyze, or verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning.
• Develop proactive recommendations to optimize our accounting systems and procedures.
• Prevent and detect inaccuracies.
• Report and strategize with upper management regularly.
• Supervise accounting assistants and bookkeepers, plan their work, assign tasks and identify team weaknesses for growth.
• Organize financial statements and budget preparation, accurately and timely.
• Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in both public and/or private organization
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Experience in a non-profit organization is preferred
• CPA license is preferred, not required
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office preferably Microsoft Excel
