Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to provide personalized care and support to our 65 year old female client who resides in Glenview, Illinois. The position requires daily shifts from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The caregiver will play a crucial role in ensuring the client's well-being, safety, and comfort.

• Provide companionship and supervision throughout the shift.
• Assist with meal preparation, serving, and clean-up.
• Offer standby support for the client’s safety, as she is a fall risk and ambulates with a walker for stability.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, laundry, and making the bed.
• Transport & escort the client to errands or medical appointments as needed.
• Provide AM & PM medication reminders to ensure proper adherence to prescribed schedules.
• Communicate any observations regarding the client’s condition to family members or medical staff, if applicable.

• Knowledge of Safe Transfer Techniques:
  • The caregiver should be trained in proper transfer methods to ensure the client's safety during movements, such as getting in and out of bed, chairs, or vehicles. Techniques like using a gait belt or leveraging proper body mechanics are important.
• Physical Strength and Endurance:
  • Assisting with transfers may require physical effort, especially since the client uses a walker for stability and is a fall risk.
• Attention to Safety:
  • The caregiver must ensure that the client's walker is always within reach, transfer areas are clear of hazards, and the environment is safe to prevent falls.
• Patience and Communication:
  • Clear communication is crucial to guide the client and ensure they feel secure. Providing verbal cues for hand placement or movement can help build trust and confidence.
• Experience with Assistive Devices:
  • Familiarity with walkers and other mobility aids is important to provide effective support and reduce the risk of injury for both the client and the caregiver.
• Empathy and Respect:
  • The client is alert and oriented, so the caregiver should respect their independence while providing assistance. Maintaining their dignity during transfers is essential.
• Adaptability:
  • The caregiver should be prepared to adjust their approach based on the client's physical condition, mood, or specific needs on any given day.
• Observation Skills:
  • Monitoring the client for signs of discomfort, fatigue, or changes in their mobility is important to prevent accidents and address potential issues early.

Requirements

Caregiving experience preferred (CNA/HHA a plus)
