About This Position

Description:

Position Summary:

Performs inspection on parts and assemblies as a part of the Quality Management System. Will work within the production and warehousing operations on quality issues and problems and facilitate methods to remediate and prevent future occurrences. Interfaces with engineering and supply chain to resolve quality / reliability issues and coordinates the return shipments of non-conforming material.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for escalation of non-conforming material from the shop production floor or warehouse.
  • Inspects parts and assemblies utilizing the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) or manual instruments to identify variances to blueprint requirements.
  • Compares inspection results against electronic CAD models to analyze “part to print” discrepancies.
  • Works closely with engineering to disposition non-conformances in a timely manner and maintain production schedules.
  • Maintains an organized non-conforming material crib and updates the MRP system as required.
  • Works with the Supply Chain organization on vendor returns and replacement parts procurement.
  • Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.
  • Issues corrective actions as needed to drive root cause resolution.
  • Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.
  • Maintains and updates the incident database in order to identify non-conformance trends and opportunities.
  • Tracks key Quality metrics and presents data to multiple levels in the organization.
  • Understands and supports company philosophies, goals, and direction within the Quality Management System.
  • Performs internal audits to proactively identify improvements for the Quality Management System.
  • Recommends improvements for products and processes.
  • Communicates professionally, effectively, and efficiently with all internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates flexibility when confronted with high stress / emergency situations, priority changes or new assignments.
  • Works safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Working with Sales and Supply chain to coordinate product returns via the RMA and RTV process
  • Quickly establish and maintain rapport with internal department personnel.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Competencies:

  • Diverse knowledge of inspection equipment, including CMM operation and software, and laser scanning.
  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques.
  • Familiar with use of ERP systems and CAD systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good math and technical skills.
  • Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma.
  • Post high school course work or technical training certifications.
  • Certification in quality control is preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a comparable position.
  • The ideal candidate must have Manufacturing Experience.
  • Experience in high-complexity machines and machining is desired.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing environment. Employee may be regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.

Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stretch, crouch. Lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requires close focus, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.
