Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and business-minded attorney to serve as Assistant General Counsel – Compliance Attorney. This role will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s global compliance framework.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in global anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, export controls, government contracts compliance, HR-related regulatory matters, operational compliance (permits/licensing) and conducting internal investigations. This individual will partner cross-functionally to mitigate risk, promote a culture of integrity, and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Program Leadership & Internal Investigations
- Support and enhance the company’s global compliance program, including policies, procedures, controls, and training initiatives.
- Provide day-to-day compliance guidance across business functions.
- Oversee and manage internal investigations involving alleged misconduct, regulatory violations, or policy breaches.
- Conduct witness interviews and oversee document reviews.
- Prepare investigation reports and recommend remediation and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with HR, leadership, and external counsel as appropriate.
- Support and manage ethics hotline intake, reporting, and resolution processes.
- Promote a culture of integrity through training, communications, and leadership engagement.
Risk Assessment & Monitoring
- Participate in enterprise risk assessments and compliance monitoring activities.
- Identify emerging regulatory risks and advise leadership accordingly.
- Develop and track compliance metrics and reporting to senior management.
- Assist in evaluating and strengthening internal controls.
HR & Employment-Related Compliance
- Partner with Human Resources to advise on employee conduct matters, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Provide guidance on compliance with employment-related laws and internal policies.
- Assist in developing and delivering employee compliance training.
- Support policy drafting and updates related to employee conduct and workplace standards.
Government Contracts Compliance
- Counsel business teams on regulatory requirements applicable to government contracting.
- Advise on FAR compliance, ethics requirements, procurement integrity, and mandatory disclosure obligations.
- Support internal reviews, audits, and responses to government inquiries.
- Assist in developing policies and controls to support government contract compliance.
Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (ABAC)
- Advise on compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other applicable global anti-corruption laws.
- Conduct third-party due diligence and corruption risk assessments.
- Develop and deliver anti-corruption training.
- Support investigations and remediation related to potential bribery or corruption issues.
Export Controls & Trade Compliance
- Advise on U.S. export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR) and sanctions compliance.
- Provide guidance on export classifications, licensing requirements, and cross-border transactions.
- Partner with operational teams to implement trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Support audits and internal reviews related to trade compliance.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 4–5 years of legal experience, including substantial experience in compliance-related practice areas.
- Experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Compliance program support and internal investigations
- HR-related regulatory compliance
- Government contracts compliance
- Anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws
- Export controls and trade compliance
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting global operations.
- Familiarity with compliance program design and implementation.
- Experience interacting with regulators or supporting responses to government inquiries.
- Compliance certification (e.g., CCEP) a plus.
Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The base pay range for this role is $150,000 – $165,000 per year. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
