About This Position
SUMMARY
Sets up and operates single or multi-operation machines to blank, form, bend, and punch large or heavy steel parts.
Parts are produced to print specifications from bar stock, coil, or individual pieces by performing the following dutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Attends the job during the scheduled work hours.
Follows all departmental and company safety rules / procedures.
Receives instructions, material requirements, prints, routings, and work orders for the job.
Plans details of working procedure, selects proper tooling & materials needed for the job.
Stages material in work area.
Performs machine set-up, including tool assembly. Installs tooling into press, secures by means of clamps, wedges, bolts.
Checks tool alignment prior to operation.
Performs routine maintenance.
Operates large stamping press to perform necessary job on parts according to instructions and to blueprint specifications.
Performs first piece inspection using one or more of the following: a combination square, protractor, calipers, micrometers, or tape measure to assure bends, angles, and dimensions are correct and within given tolerances.
Recognizes non-conforming product, worn tooling, and machine conditions.
Makes adjustments to machine to bring part within tolerances.
Operates machine by performing the duties mentioned above to run successive pieces to the specified order quantity requirements.
Performs periodic part inspection per job instructions.
Runs parts into appropriate containers, attaches work order documentation.
Washes finished parts as necessary.
Completes appropriate paperwork.
Moves material to next operation and stages as required, using material handling equipment – i.e., towmotor.
Reports progress / status to supervisor or lead person.
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in standard units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and comprehend a tape measure and blueprints.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Explaining job functions and QMS related information to Internal and 3rd Party Auditors.
- Validating the current Revision Level and Date of applicable Controlled QMS Documentation.
- Performing work according to authorized training and controlled QMS documentation, and notifying Supervision of anything that would prevent such activity.
- Avoiding use of uncontrolled and obsolete documentation and alerting Supervision if such is located in the work area.
- Properly handling suspect and nonconforming product.
- Properly identifying all products and materials in the work area(s).
- Properly maintaining work area(s) including product, material, equipment, gaging, test equipment, etc. in according with 5S guidelines.

The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (without assistance), and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to see small detail, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
OVERTIME
Employees must be able to work additional hours at the beginning or end of the shift, additional days during the payroll week which and will be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll weeks.
