About This Position

Job purpose
The Production Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of product throughout the plant both window and door departments, it also assist any and all other departments to achieve production objectives, which will result in the production of a quality product, on time and complete. The Production Assistant must be able to schedule the departments meet production requirements while maintaining efficiency and ensuring a quality result.
This position is also responsible for directing what schedules need to be run first based of how the trucks need to be loaded for each department. This individual is required to assist in the development of department goals and strategies to include safety communication, quality assurance and meeting department measures. Incumbent will ensure the department is running effectively and efficiently and use data to implement continuous improvement. This position will monitor the workflow of the departments and keep the production Manager up to speed on what kind of volume is coming in and where the production lines need to be based on what will have to be scheduled the next day. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills are required. You must have a vast knowledge of the production lines and all the outside parts that go into making the product.
Every unit produced in our manufacturing facility is made-to-order. It requires a high degree of precision, craftsmanship and ability to skillfully work with pneumatic hand tools and automated equipment to build beautiful, high-quality windows.
Duties and responsibilities
This position is responsible for developing, leading and executing in the following areas:
 Leads by example each day in key areas – EHS, quality, productivity, housekeeping and attendance.
 Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules daily.
 Works with other supervisors or group leaders to meet production needs.
 Provides leadership in sustaining defined processes and resolving issues.
 Maintains time and production records daily.
 Ensures the overall integrity of work produced by the line.
 Develops, recommends and implements add on production from customer demands.
 Maintains the overall safety of employees in the assigned work area by reporting all hazards/issues, leading and participating in EHS incident investigations and follow-up, ergonomic and hazard assessments etc.
 Is consistently at work and on time; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time; Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach production schedule/goals.
 Promotes a harassment-free environment. Ensures consistency between lines in application of employee relations policies and procedures for all production employees, e.g. overtime administration, layoff/recall procedures, attendance tracking, etc
 The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
 Wears required safety equipment including but not limited to; hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear.
 Must maintain clean, organized work area. Ensures housekeeping of work area is acceptable for next shift.
 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
 Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
 Ability to define and resolve problems in a timely manner.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Strong planning and organizational abilities are essential
 You must have a good rapport and communication skills with all levels in the organization.
 Must be 18 years of age or older.
 Pass drug screen.
 Pass pre-employment tests.
 Pass pre-work ability/ modified functional capacity screen, if required for position.
 Successful completion of pre-screen testing (mechanical, following instructions, numerical computation), if required for position.
 You must have at least five (5) years of manufacturing experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Manufacturing related experience is preferred.
 Job specific experience is preferred.
 High school diploma or GED preferred.
 You must be a good decision maker and problem solver.
 You must have a familiarity with American units of measure for weight, time, and distance.
 You need to be able to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

 Assist traffic on routing orders, canceling orders and answering customer’s questions on their truck delivery.
 You need to be able to plan, schedule, print and sort schedules for the day’s production.
 Assist Quanex with the schedule s so they can produce the screens that go with the days production along with making sure any and all repairs are ordered and delivered.
 Assist with all miss deliveries finding and reordering if need be.
 Assist drivers when they come to pick up their loads.
 Assist Ga plant on any scheduling issue.
 Schedule all Ga production.
 Log, track and ship all UPS and FedX orders.
 Assist Purchasing on any out sourced material on it location.
 Assist inside Sales on fixing orders and adding orders.

 Generate up to 25 lbs. of grip strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling products.
 Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling products.
 Display average coordination eye-hand coordination while using both hands on a continuous basis while performing job tasks.
 This job requires the use of close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
 Perform elevated work on an occasional basis when handling products.
 Stoop, kneel or squat on an occasional basis when handling products.
 Reach forward and to the side on a frequent basis when handling products.
 Stand on a continuous basis and walk on a frequent basis during the course of each shift.
 Able to stand and perform repetitive tasks up to 12 hours per day.
