About This Position
Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant
We are looking for a CPA with 5+ years accounting experience working in a high paced environment with hands on accounting and financial reporting. Big 4 accounting firm experience is preferred. The candidate for this Accounting Manager position must be looking to advance their career in the insurance industry with a growing company. Candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills while working as part of a successful, high performing financial reporting team.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Consolidated and legal entity specific financial closing routines to include balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, equity roll forwards and business plan/forecast variance analytics
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for multiple insurance companies
- Reviewing general ledger activity including monthly standardized and adjusting journal entries
- Performing balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations for multiple entities including trend analysis
- Reviewing monthly closing routines and reconciliations of other team members
- Perform Treasury functions including monthly insurance company settlements, bank reconciliations, positive pay maintenance, inter-intra cash transfers and cash balance forecasting
- Preparation of standard and ad hoc financial reports for presentation to CFO and other financial executives
- Researching historical transactions with complete documentation of findings
- Oversee Account Payable function including annual 1099 preparation
Requirements/Competencies:
- 4 year accounting degree from accredited university and CPA required
- 5+ years accounting experience including working for Big 4 accounting firm
- Research and apply current US GAAP to multiple entity consolidated reporting routines
- Solid foundation in balance sheet analytics, income statement fluctuation and trend analysis
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team depending on assignment
- Results driven and deadline focused
- Strong desktop skills using Microsoft Office
- Dependable, accountable, ethical
- Experience in insurance and/or financial services a definite plus
