About This Position
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse position provides specialized care for participants in CBMHP with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and/or behavioral problems. Nurses assess participants, administer medications, and implement therapeutic interventions to promote emotional stability and functional improvement. They also educate participants and their families, and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care. To be successful in this position requires patience, active time management skills, and the ability to maintain strong boundaries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate medication reconciliation post participant discharge from hospitals or state institutions for psychiatrists and pharmacy to renew or update status
- Conduct Clozaril testing utilizing the Athelas Testing System
- Maintain medical records via internal and external databases
- Manage participant appointment scheduling for psychiatrists and APNP
- Maintain medical facilities and equipment in accordance with State and Federal guidelines
- Order participant lab testing within internal and external databases
- Provide initial and on-going health assessments for participants
- Arrange for or provide follow-up medical care for participants as needed
- Ensure that there are written orders on file and updated for any prescription medications
- Administer long acting injectable medication in the office
- Educate participants about medications, side effects, precautions, and contraindications
- Notify case manager, supervisor, and APNP/psychiatrists of any psychiatric symptoms or behavior changes that may require intervention
- Serve as liaison with other collaborative medical professionals when necessary
- Conduct blood pressures, weights, and any other medical treatments as needed
- First shift work (8am-4pm), no weekends or holidays
- Conduct occasional home visits to give injections or evaluate participant medical issues
- Attend and participate in team staffings/in-services
- Other job-related duties that may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position
