Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position participates in the delivery of patient care within the guidelines and policies of Northfield Hospital + Clinics. Carries out patient care tasks as directed by providers and nurses, maintains supplies and equipment, and accurately communicates with patients and all members of the healthcare team. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $23.71–$33.47. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Patient focused assessment
  • Collects ongoing data and conducts a focused nursing assessment of the health status of patients.
  • Recognizes alterations in the patient’s condition and compares them to the previous condition.
  • Reports changes and responses to interventions in an ongoing manner to a registered nurse or the appropriate licensed health care provider.
Participates in patient care planning
  • Participates in the development and modification of the care plan.
  • Implements appropriate aspects of the patient’s care plan.
Patient interventions
  • Provides assigned and delegated aspects of patient care, implements treatments, procedures and administers medications.
  • Provides and documents safe and effective nursing care which promotes a safe and therapeutic environment.
Assists in the evaluation of care
  • Provides patient surveillance and monitoring.
  • Assists in the identification of patient needs and advocates for the best interests of individual patients.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the impact of nursing care by observing and reporting the patient’s responses to nursing actions to the RN and suggesting nursing intervention modifications based on patient responses.
Wound Healing Specific Duties
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms prior to patient visit.
  • Under the direction of the RN/Provider, provides wound-related patient care that are approved hospital and Healogics policy and procedure.
  • May assist with intake and discharge. Gathers patient information.
  • Rooms patient and prepares patient for exams, tests, and procedures. Obtains and accurately records necessary vital signs and physical measurements.
  • Prepares, administers, and records medications per policy and established procedures.
  • Monitors provider orders to ensure orders are completed.
  • Gathers necessary equipment and supplies for the RN or provider.
  • Reports quality of care issues to Clinical Nurse Manger. Communicates as needed with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions, to ensure quality of care.
  • Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties, as needed, after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric training
  • May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training
Required Qualifications
  • Current LPN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, in good standing
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire, company paid)
  • Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
  • Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of clinical practice experience
  • Electronic medical record experience
  • Wound care experience
Schedule
  • 80 hours per two-week pay period
  • Monday-Friday, 7:50 AM – 4:30 PM
