Description:

SUMMARY:

The Logistics Supervisor is a working shift leader responsible for supervising and participating in daily logistics operations to ensure ambulance readiness, inventory control, regulatory compliance, and operational support for Field Operations. This role oversees personnel, controlled substance accountability, equipment inspections, supply management, documentation accuracy, facility safety, and cross-departmental coordination while actively performing logistics duties as needed. The Logistics Supervisor supports emergency response operations, enforces safety and compliance standards, and ensures continuity of service during assigned shifts.

SPECIAL NOTE:

This job has been designated as a Safety Sensitive Position by HCESD11. Public safety, as well as the safety of HCESD11 employees, requires that the employee in this position be able to always perform all essential functions at the highest levels. Therefore, this position is subject to frequent drug testing and requires reporting of all employee use of High-Risk Medications identified by HCESD11 and certification from the employee’s physician that such medications can be safely used while working. Because HCESD11 ’s ability to deliver emergency medical response depends on having a workforce that can be reliably scheduled, this job also requires regular and reliable attendance. This is a high-stress job that requires focus, engagement, and high performance in traumatic, physically demanding, emotionally charged, and life-threatening situations. The position involves exposure to serious and graphic injury to adults and children, including death and dismemberment. A high level of physical, mental, and emotional health is an essential requirement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Supervises and actively participates in daily logistics operations during assigned shifts, working alongside team members to ensure operational readiness and continuity of service to Field Operations.

· Schedules and directs Logistics personnel during the shift, providing real-time guidance, coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed to maintain productivity, accuracy, and safety standards.

· Ensures ambulance and equipment readiness by overseeing and assisting with restocking, inspections, quality control checks, and equipment calibration in accordance with Medical Director guidelines, DSHS standards, and accreditation requirements.

· Maintains controlled substance accountability, including proper storage, documentation, reconciliation, and compliance with DEA, Medical Director, and state regulatory standards; promptly addresses and reports discrepancies.

· Monitors and maintains inventory levels of disposable and durable medical supplies to meet operational demand, including receiving shipments, verifying accuracy, resolving discrepancies, organizing storage areas, and preventing loss of stock.

· Completes and verifies required documentation, including daily inventory logs, inspection reports, calibration records, compliance tracking, and related electronic and manual records to ensure audit and accreditation readiness.

· Ensures logistics facilities, storage areas, and equipment are maintained in a safe, secure, organized, and operationally ready condition; addresses after-hours building or system issues during assigned shifts.

· Promotes and enforces safe work practices, ensuring adherence to District policies, PPE requirements, and established procedures.

· Coordinates with Field Operations, Fleet, and Risk & Safety during the shift to resolve equipment issues, support investigations, respond to operational needs, and maintain effective communication between departments.

· Supports emergency and disaster response operations, assisting with logistics coordination, resource deployment, documentation, and participation in after-action reviews as assigned.

· Performs essential duties of the Logistics Technician role as needed to support staffing levels and operational requirements.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associate’s degree in emergency medical services management, business administration, or other business degree preferred. Years of Experience considered in lieu of education.

· Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in Logistics within the last three (3) years, preferably within EMS, fire, law enforcement, or public sector environments.

· Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably within EMS or a logistics-focused department.

· One (1) or more years of experience functioning in an EMT or Paramedic role, preferably

· Working knowledge of Lean principles, basic financial concepts, and operational resource management

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard computer systems with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

· Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor while effectively prioritizing, multitasking, and making sound decisions in high-pressure environments

· Ability to operate an ambulance; must possess a valid Texas driver’s license in good standing and maintain a driving record that meets insurability standards

· Must not have been excluded by the OIG to participate in Federally Funded Health Care Programs

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Occasionally: Confined areas, extreme hot and cold, wet and/or humid conditions, noise, vibration, mechanical and electrical equipment, moving objects, high places, fumes/odors/mists, dirt and dust, gasses, toxic conditions, human excrement, blood, urine, mucous, tissue.

· Frequently: works alone, with and around others, face to face and verbal contact, inside and outside temperature changes and other inclement weather conditions.

· Constantly: shift work, extended day.
