Position Title: Salad Maker – Dietary Department
Full Time
Rotating Shift
Compensation: $16.60hr starting (union contract)

Position Summary

Prepares, assembles, delivers, heats, and/or serves meals and nourishments for patients, cafeteria, and catered events. This includes ensuring food quality, proper portioning, and adherence to dietary guidelines. Additionally, prepares cold menu items such as salads, sandwiches, and desserts, while also assembling deli sandwiches to order and hot retail items for customers. Maintains cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, adheres to safety and sanitation standards, and ensures a positive dining experience for all served. This position does not provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Ability to follow recipes and prepare a variety of menu items, including special dietary accommodations.

• Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.

• Safety & Sanitation: Knowledge of and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper storage, handling, and cleaning procedures.

• Time Management: Efficiently organizes and prioritizes tasks to meet meal service deadlines.

• Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with kitchen staff, dietitians, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift to [insert weight, e.g., 25 lbs.] for extended periods.

Work Experience:

1 to 3 years of experience.

Position Qualifications:

  • Cooking experience.
  • 3 months of food service experience in a hospital setting.
  • Use of cooking utensils and equipment.
  • Speaks and reads English.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
