Custodian at Intrepid Control Systems, Inc – Troy, Michigan

Overview

Intrepid Control Systems is seeking a dependable Custodian to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of our office and manufacturing facility. This role ensures the building remains safe, organized, and professional in appearance for employees, customers, and visitors. The Custodian also partners with the Building Maintenance Technician on routine and preventative facility tasks and supports event setup and teardown as needed.

This position operates in both office and manufacturing areas and may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying indoor conditions. Proper safety procedures and PPE are required at all times.

Shift

Night shift: 4 PM to 12 AM

Responsibilities:

• Sweep, dust mop, and wet mop floors; vacuum carpets, entrances, offices, conference rooms, and high-traffic areas
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, shower stalls, floors, and trash removal
• Clean stainless steel sinks, drinking fountains, lunchroom surfaces, refrigerators, microwaves, and other shared appliances
• Dust ledges, baseboards, door frames, windowsills, mirrors, and door glass
• Maintain entrance areas and stairwells, including winter maintenance as needed
• Clean epoxied floors and hallway baseboards
• Remove trash from offices, conference rooms, and manufacturing/shipping areas
• Sanitize employee gym equipment
• Restock custodial closets and restroom supplies
• Ensure all areas are clean and prepared for the next workday
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment
• Support setup and teardown for employee and customer events
• Work closely with the Building Maintenance Technician
• Assist with scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and climb stairs throughout a shift in a three-story building
• Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and safe chemical handling
• Strong attention to detail and consistent work quality
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Flexibility to adjust schedule for facility or event needs
• Ability to pass a background check

• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities cleaning experience
• Experience in both office and manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with floor care, including carpet and epoxied surfaces
• Experience supporting event setups
• Experience working alongside maintenance or facilities staff

Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and stair climbing are required. Safe operation of cleaning equipment and adherence to safety procedures are essential.
