Description:

Job Overview: The physical therapy aide supports physical therapy clinical staff with care delivery by preparing and maintaining treatment areas, equipment, modalities, and assisting with patient care as directed, under the supervision of physical therapists and/or trainers.

Department: Physical Therapy

Reports to: Lead Trainer

Schedule: FT

Wage: $17.00-$18.00/hr, commensurate with experience

Requirements:

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in patient treatment by applying heat and cold packs and, once trained, electrical modalities; provide patient monitoring during treatment as directed by supervising clinicians.
  • Assist with patient exercises and provide supervision only under the direct supervision of a PT/OT, as directed by supervising clinicians.
  • Assist patients with the proper use of exercise equipment and monitor during use under the direction and supervision of a PT/OT. Prepare and maintain safe, clean, and organized treatment areas, gym space, and other work environments by following prescribed procedures, protocols, and regulations.
  • Wash, fold, and maintain stock of towels, gowns, and other linen in treatment areas and the gym.
  • Clean and maintain physical therapy equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment; report any equipment concerns or malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Organizes and maintains testing equipment and records to ensure Medicare compliance with the equipment testing schedule.
  • Maintains physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and organize time by completing work within assigned events.
  • Promptly begins work assignments after receiving instructions in accordance with established policy.
  • Maintains awareness of current policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of injury information.
  • Attends department staff meetings as established and contributes to the agenda to ensure staff education regarding trainer program changes/updates.
  • Communicates in a concise, informative manner.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Serves and protects the BoulderCentre community by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances the physical therapy department and organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; current high school students, 16 years or older, may be considered. Some college coursework is a plus.

Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare, customer service, or related environment preferred.

Performance Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of exercise techniques, safety principles, and general anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics (training provided)
  • Familiarity with weight training equipment and adherence to practice policies and procedures
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to monitor patient performance and ensure compliance with prescribed programs
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including EMR and standard office software
  • Ability to follow clinical direction and work under PT/OT supervision
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
