SALARY: The starting(hiring) salary for this position is $68,000. Upon successful completion of oneyear of service, the salary will increase to $100,897.

POSITIONOVERVIEW:
Underdirection, oversees and coordinates safety, operational, environmental, andregulatory compliance activities at a federally certified airport. This roleensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local aviationregulations, while supporting the safe and efficient daily operation of airportfacilities, airfield activities, and emergency preparedness programs.
APPOINTMENTSTATUS:
Thisposition is provisional pending the administration of an open competitive CivilService examination. The selected candidate will be appointed on a provisionalbasis and will be required to apply for and successfully pass the examinationonce it is issued. Permanent appointment to the title will be contingent uponCivil Service certification and the candidate's ranking on the resultingeligible list.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseedaily airport operations and safety programs in accordance with FAR Part 139requirements
- Conductroutine airfield inspections and identify unsafe conditions and initiatecorrective actions, including closure of impacted areas when necessary
- Monitorcompliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including FederalAviation Administration standards
- Develop,implement, and maintain required airport documents including the AirportCertification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, and Snow and Ice Control Plan
- IssueNOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) as required based on airfield conditions
- Coordinatewith internal staff, tenants, contractors, and external agencies to ensureoperational compliance and safety standards
- Serveas liaison with FAA, law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responseagencies
- Respondto airfield incidents, emergencies, and unusual operational events andcoordinate appropriate response efforts
- Overseesafety inspections of runways, taxiways, ramps, fueling operations, and airportfacilities
- Ensurecontractors and tenants adhere to airport safety and operational regulations
- Developand conduct training programs related to airport safety, emergency response,and regulatory compliance
- Maintainrequired documentation, reports, and records of daily airport operations andsafety activities
- Supportand coordinate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and full-scale trainingexercises
- Otherduties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Three(3) years of experience in airport operations, aviation safety, protectiveservices, or aircraft rescue and firefighting
- Validdriver's license if operating a vehicle is necessary for job duties.
- Abilityto obtain and maintain required airport security clearances
PREFERENCES:
- Workingknowledge of FAA regulations, including FAR Part 139
- Experienceat a commercial service airport
- Bachelor'sdegree in aviation management or a related field
- Certificationand/or accreditation through the American Association of Airport Executives

- Knowledgeof airport operations, aviation safety standards, and emergency responseprocedures
- Knowledgeof federal and state aviation regulations and compliance requirements
- Abilityto inspect airfield conditions, identify hazards, and implement correctiveactions
- Abilityto interpret and apply laws, regulations, and technical guidance to operationalscenarios
- Strongcommunication skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff,tenants, and external agencies
- Abilityto prepare reports, maintain records, and document operational activities
- Abilityto exercise sound judgment and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Abilityto conduct training sessions and present safety-related information
- Abilityto establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal andexternal stakeholders
