About the role
The Landscaper & Snow Removal Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the properties and grounds to ensure a safe, beautiful environment for residents to enjoy. This position involves regular landscaping tasks, such as mowing, planting, pruning, and seasonal clean-ups, as well as snow removal duties during winter months. A well-organized and detail-oriented approach is essential, as the specialist will play a key role in keeping the properties in peak condition throughout the year.
What you'll do
- Perform routine lawn care including mowing, edging, weeding, and trimming.
- Plant, water, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other greenery.
- Prune trees and shrubs to ensure proper growth and appearance.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments as needed to maintain healthy landscapes.
- Remove debris, leaves, and other waste to keep outdoor areas clean and tidy.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Perform minor landscape construction tasks, such as installing walkways, borders, and retaining walls.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping tools and equipment safely.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and company standards.
- Work collaboratively with the property management team to address landscaping needs.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly.
Winter Responsibilities:
- Perform snow removal duties including shoveling, snow blowing, and operating snow plows.
- Apply salt, sand, or other de-icing agents to walkways, driveways, and other surfaces.
- Monitor weather conditions and respond promptly to snow and ice removal needs.
- Ensure that all pathways, entryways, and parking areas are safe and accessible during winter months.
- Maintain snow removal equipment and perform routine checks to ensure they are in good working condition.
- This position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extreme cold and snow.
- May require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or snow removal. Experience with landscaping machinery and snow removal equipment preferred.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, fertilization, pruning, pest control, and irrigation systems. Ability to operate and maintain landscaping and snow removal equipment safely. Awareness of environmental regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; work outdoors in varying weather conditions; stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Willingness to perform snow removal duties during evenings or early mornings.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, reliability, punctuality, and good communication. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Flexibility to respond to emergency landscape or snow removal issues outside normal hours.
The pay range for this role is:
23 - 24 USD per hour(Buffalo, NY)
