About This Position
Position Title: Video Monitor Technician
Position Summary:
The Video Monitor Technician (VMT) is responsible for continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. The VMT will be responsible for verbally redirecting patients from engaging in at risk behaviors and providing RNs and other clinicians with immediate notification of any assistance needed. Responsibilities include, but may change over time, initiating and discontinuing monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge. Perform configuration as necessary, clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information, answer telephone and communicate clearly when receiving information from units or providers. An essential function is the use of clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient. The VMT will orient and mentor new staff members and serve as a resource for training and troubleshooting. The VMT will be responsible to give reports to oncoming shifts, prioritize and organize work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations. Other duties involve tracking all designated equipment, cleaning of monitors, arranging transport of monitors, replace defective equipment and report failures. The VMT adheres to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors. The VMT must be willing to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The VMT will complete other duties as assigned.
Education:
· High school diploma required.
Experience:
· Prior experience as a hospital based Monitor Tech preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
Special Skills:
· Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
· Strong organizational skills required.
· Strong PC skills required.
· Strong verbal communication skills required.
· Ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situations required.
