Description:

MicroCare, LLC is looking for a Chemistry Intern to join our Laboratory this Summer, 2026. This is an eight – ten week assignment, with a Monday through Friday 8am-5pm onsite schedule.

We are headquartered in New Britain Connecticut, accessible from both Greater Hartford and New Haven.

Position Overview:

Within the scope of this role, there will be several technical research projects to be worked on, contributed to and potentially completed within this period. Our Chemical Research Team will provide input, instruction and support. After initial training, this position will be tasked to design, set up, and conduct various chemical/performance tests to investigate identified key challenges. Potential projects can also involve aiding the analytical staff within MicroCare’s R&D team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Discuss &/or design test protocol(s), conduct chemical and performance tests. Document tests (used methodology and obtained results), compile data/information (graphs, charts) and interpret results of performed tests and analyses. Present findings/results, e.g., via internal report(s), brief memo(s) or via presentation(s).
  2. Identify, if requested, follow-up tasks that might be performed by candidate or by R&D team members
  3. Conduct chemical, physical & performance laboratory tests to assist the Commercial team in resolving customer challenges and in identifying new applications/uses of existing products potentially opening new markets/customers to MicroCare.
  4. Perform all assigned laboratory and manufacturing related tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
  5. Work with different segments of MicroCare product lines as it pertains to Quality Control, R&D, Technical Support, Regulatory and/or Manufacturing.
  6. Help preserve a clean work environment, which can include maintaining & cleaning of instruments and equipment.
  7. Review & organize chemical substance inventory and assure that adequate documentation (e.g., SDS etc.) is up to date & available.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Competencies/Experience:

  • Basic proficiency with laboratory procedures such as sample preparation, titration, weighing, solution preparation, and instrumentation
  • Understanding of lab safety protocols, PPE use, and safe chemical handling
  • Ability to accurately record experimental data and interpret results
  • Clearly communicates findings, observations, and questions to supervisors and team members
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to assist with projects or improve processes.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and the ability to quickly learn new methods, tools, and processes.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering – 2026-2028 graduate
  • One year of laboratory experience with an understanding of general laboratory etiquette
  • Ability to work accurately, safely and (after on-site training) independently
  • Excellent trouble shooting and communication skills required
