Our work depends on a Lead Case Manager joining our team to lead IT professionals supporting the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA).
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) aims to improve health outcomes by enhancing access to quality services, developing a skilled health workforce, and implementing innovative programs that benefit geographically isolated, economically or medically vulnerable populations. HRSA focuses on increasing health equity and strengthening local health systems through initiatives such as community health centers, the Organ Procurement & Transplantation Network (OPTN), the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and support for maternal and child health.

The Lead Case Manager at GDIT is a primary contact for monitoring, compliance and improving performance of OPTN member institutions (transplant hospitals, OPOs and histocompatibility laboratories). The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

The Lead Case Manager will
- Lead the task team for patient safety and compliance case reviews responsible for managing case intake, triage, tracking, reviews and resolutions for the Site Visit Leads/Investigators and Site Visit Coordinators.
- Monitor organ transplant policies, investigate potential violations, and ensure adherence to federal regulations.
- Conduct audits, analyze complex data, manage compliance inquiries, and provide guidance to transplant centers to ensure patient safety and equitable organ allocation.
- Manage quality improvement and case investigations and routinely report progress to relevant stakeholders and task leads.
- Represent the department in cross-functional teams and liaise with other contractors/ departments to improve processes.
- Receive and document patient safety and compliance cases securely. Redact sensitive information and ensure proper handling and storage of records.
- Maintain tools to track case progress, history, and outcomes. Create regular reports summarizing case activity, status, and resolutions. Monitor who accesses and reviews case files.
- Safeguard case data and ensure secure storage, transfer, and handling of sensitive information.
- Perform Case Triage. Assess cases for severity and determine appropriate actions or escalation. Develop initial case review plans and identify necessary data or participants.
- Work with stakeholders like HRSA, OPTN members, and Committees during case reviews. Document roles and responsibilities of involved parties in the case process.
- Monitor cases for trends and patterns of non-compliance. Provide recommendations for improving policies, processes, or training.
- Conduct thorough reviews of cases, ensuring all required steps are completed. Draft final reports summarizing findings and follow-up actions. Oversee implementation of final decisions, such as corrective action plans.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- At least 6 years in compliance, project management, quality improvement, auditing, or investigations, often within healthcare or regulatory environments
- Healthcare Service or Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) agency experience preferred
- Bachelors degree is required
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations
- Analytic skills: ability to use independent judgment to determine risk
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Leadership capabilities
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules and audit logistics.
- Ability to travel to member organizations throughout the country (up to 15% of the time)
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
