We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Estimating Department in Phoenix, AZ. This position reports directly to the Chief Estimator and collaborates closely with the Vice President of Estimating.
Position SummaryThe Senior Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed project estimates in line with company standards and procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction practices, and estimating software.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of construction estimating experience with an MEP focus, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate backlog and bidding priorities with the Chief Estimator and VP of Estimating
- Participate in weekly estimating meetings to review upcoming bid opportunities
- Collaborate with Jr. Estimators to review plans, addenda, and bid documents
- Review project specifications to identify discrepancies, approved materials, and manufacturers
- Attend pre-construction meetings to gather bid-critical information
- Investigate remodel projects and confirm existing conditions and equipment sizing
- Analyze project schedules for liquidated damages, overtime, and duration impacts
- Complete accurate take-offs (materials, labor, equipment) and finalize bid recaps
- Prepare detailed scope letters and identify value-engineering opportunities
- Maintain estimating software databases for material classifications and pricing
- Develop new system enhancements in Estimation/FastEst for improved efficiency
- Prepare project budgets and turnover documents post-award
- Support Project Managers and Purchasing with clarifications and change orders
- Review contracts for alignment with scope, exclusions, and bid assumptions
- Oversee Jr. Estimator responsibilities including bid logs and bid results
- Maintain accurate take-offs and bid documentation
- Deliver detailed budgets and change orders on schedule
- Ensure complete, on-time project turnovers
- Support backlog growth through consistent bid quality

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with FastEst software is a strong plus
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Must be willing and able to work on-site in Phoenix, AZ (no remote option)
- Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8-Hour Shifts
