Position Summary:
The Fielding Assistant assists with social science research pertaining to reproductive behavior and access to health care services, principally family planning, unintended pregnancy and abortion, in the United States. They work on specific research teams, under leadership from a projects’ Principal Research Scientist and Data Scientist. Day-to-day task assignment is directed by the projects’ Research Associate and/or Fielding Manager.
Responsibilities and/or duties:
- Assist with survey fielding, including participant recruitment and data collection by communicating over phone or email follow-up with project participants
- Keeping records of activities; documenting outreach and progress of fielding activities; regularly updating tracking sheets, confirming follow-ups
- Ability to host or facilitate a virtual video meeting with study participants
- Entering/keypunching responses from participants into online surveys
- Performing data quality checks for survey completion and entry errors; following up with respondents for clarifications as needed
- Managing respondent interactions, including sending virtual gift cards over email, initiating direct deposit/check payments with organizational software, troubleshooting minor technical issues for respondents related to survey access and remuneration
- Conduct internet research
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional office setting; experience in a research setting preferred.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment (some in-office work required; e.g. team meetings, printing and mailing surveys.
- Must have strong attention to professionalism and responsibility, ability to consistently adhere to strict protocols for data collection and management and for handling confidential information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet research, and willing to gain proficiency in other platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required; previous telephone and email communication with health care providers preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, thorough attention to detail, and a self-motivated work style required.
- Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Interest in sexual and reproductive health research.
Salary and Benefits:
In accordance with the New York City Pay Transparency Law, the full salary range for this position is between $53,572 and $64,900 at the time of posting. This range is specific to the New York and DC area, but base pay may vary depending on a wide range of factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
This is a Union represented position. The Guttmacher Institute practices a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance 8 days per month.
