Senior Account Manager, Private Client Group at Smith Brothers Insurance, LLC – Glastonbury, Connecticut
About This Position
As a Senior Account Manager in our Private Client Group, you will manage a sophisticated portfolio of high net worth clients with complex insurance programs, primarily supporting accounts averaging between $5,000 - $19,999 in commissionable revenue. Collaborating closely with Risk Advisors and our carrier marketing team, you will provide risk management guidance and leverage your high-net-worth carrier and industry knowledge to develop long-term placement strategies for complex accounts. You will lead personalized annual reviews with clients proactively redesigning accounts to suit changing lifestyles. We view service through a hospitality lens, prioritizing personalized attention, responsiveness, and a seamless client experience at every touchpoint. You will serve as a subject matter expert within the department, mentoring and training junior team members. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with relationship-building abilities and a proactive approach, contributing to process improvements as we grow and enhance service for our clients.
Responsibilities & What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage a sophisticated, high volume book of complex high net worth clients, independently and with high touch service and proactive risk management guidance.
- Work the full lifecycle of new and renewal business, including marketing, underwriting, quoting, and placement strategy for complex personal lines accounts.
- Lead personalized annual reviews with the clients proactively redesigning accounts to suit changing lifestyles.
- Develop and present tailored client-facing materials such as proposals, coverage comparisons, and renewal strategies that align with client needs and carrier offerings.
- Work with carrier marketing team to leverage strong relationships and negotiation skills with high net worth carriers to secure competitive terms and creative coverage solutions.
- Provide consultation to clients on coverage enhancements, risk exposure, claims impact, and industry trends to strengthen client protection.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client service and issue resolution, supporting high client satisfaction and retention.
- Provide subject matter expertise in specialty areas (e.g., coastal properties, vacation rentals, E&S).
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help scale service delivery.
- Mentor new and developing team members, reinforcing agency best practices and service standards.
- Participate in receivables management, account reconciliation, and contribute to ongoing business operations.
- Deliver a strong client experience through responsive communication and proactive renewals.
- Stay current on product changes, carrier requirements, regulatory changes, and market trends.
- Follow department and agency defined processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Participate in internal training sessions as well as carrier system training.
- Ensure compliance with agency processes, confidentiality standards, and quality metrics.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, carrier requirements, and regulatory changes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through training and learning opportunities.
- Support special projects and additional responsibilities as needed.
- Effectively use MS Office, standard office applications, and other technologies.
- Skillfully use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to aid work and efficiency.
- Work effectively with all team members, provide backup support, and contribute to team collaboration.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities, You’ll Bring:
- 5+ years of high net worth personal lines experience.
- College Degree Preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
- Strong knowledge and experience with underwriting, marketing, and quoting with specialty insurance Carriers such as Chubb, AIG, PURE, among others.
- Property & Casualty Insurance License in good standing required.
- Strong knowledge, familiarity, and relationships with the E&S Market/non-standard risks.
- Commitment to continuous process improvement and contributing to team growth.
- Experience in marketing and placement of coastal and wildfire properties, flood, and builders’ risk.
- Experience in marketing and placement of fine art collections and watercraft.
- Advanced understanding of high net worth risks, complex coverage analysis, and insurance program design.
- Proven ability to build and manage trusted relationships with sophisticated clients and their advisors.
- Confident communicator with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Skilled negotiator with the ability to develop and execute placement strategies for complex accounts.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in agency management systems and carrier platforms; able to analyze and leverage data to drive results.
- Proficient with AI and emerging technologies, quick to learn and apply new tools to enhance service and efficiency.
- Strong MS Office skills, agency management systems and carrier platforms experience.
- Curious, solution-oriented thinker who proactively identifies opportunities for clients and internal process improvement.
- Experience mentoring, training, or coaching colleagues is a plus.
