WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
- Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
- Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated)
- For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
- When you'll work - 70 hours biweekly; Rotating day, evening and weekend shifts
- Your pension plan –
- Permanent role: Immediate enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
- Contract role: Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
- What your benefits will be –
- Permanent role: After a 90-day waiting period, will be eligible for extended health care benefits.
- Contract role: 9% in lieu of benefits.
- Assess clients’ needs for skill development and support
- Assess social and environmental factors impacting the client
- Assess the adequacy of resources/supports currently available to the client
- Determine the impact of psychiatric symptoms on functioning
- Identify risk factors related to client and staff safety as well as relapse
- Assess barriers to successful community living (e.g. treatment options, transportation, finances, etc.)
- Ensure the assessment incorporates cultural and ethnic factors
- Assist the client to identify their personal goals and preferences and utilize standardized tool (GAIN, OCAN, etc)
- Assist the client to navigate systems and connect to appropriate resources
- Assist the client to explore options and consequences of different choices
- Help clients identify practical strategies for achieving their vision
- Ensure issues related to transportation are addressed, incorporated into the rehab plan and are consistent with organizational policies and practices
- Establish an intervention plan which includes expectations and responsibilities of the client, TCM, other supports (e.g. family) and resources, as well as the frequency and nature of interventions

- Provide needed information and education about mental illness, coping skills, services, resources, self-help and consumer initiatives/supports
- Encourage and facilitate personal growth and development towards rehabilitation and recovery
- Meet with the client regularly to work on specific goals until other permanent supports are in place
- Assist the client to obtain needed resources by educating and supporting the client to access resources, linking the client to appropriate services, advocating with or for the client when needed
- Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and its place within the mental health care system
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 4 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.
We require the following qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in a health or social service related discipline (Primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process, i.e. original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript)
- Valid driver’s licence: Minimum G class
- Transportation of clients in personal vehicle required; two million-dollar ($2, 000, 000.00) personal liability insurance required
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
- Current registration with a regulatory college
- Experience working with individuals with a serious mental illness
- First Aid / CPR
- Knowledge of community resources
- Crisis intervention and prevention training
- Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training
