Electrician Helper / Apprentice Electrician

Job Summary: The Electrician Helper supports the installation and service of smart home, security, and integrated home systems. This role is ideal for someone beginning a career in the electrical trade with an interest in low-voltage systems, home automation, AV, CCTV, intrusion detection, and life safety systems. You will gain hands-on experience in the field while developing your skills through a structured apprenticeship and formal training program alongside experienced technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with installation and service of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems, including wiring, panels, and lighting.
- Support installation of smart home and integrated systems, including Control4, home automation, AV, and lighting control.
- Help install and maintain security and life safety systems, including CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing electrical and integrated system issues.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system layouts.
- Use electrical tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow all safety standards and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members on job sites.
- Document work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Perform additional duties as required to support evolving business needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; interest or experience in electrical work, low-voltage systems, or smart home technology preferred.
- Enrollment in or willingness to enter an apprenticeship program, with a strong commitment to safety and electrical best practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and industry-related software.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a safety-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with solid communication and customer service skills.
- Pass a drug screen and background check requirements.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record and ongoing compliance with SafeTouch’s fleet driving policy.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, including attics, crawl spaces, roofs, and uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and safely ascend/descend stairs or ladders for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Safely perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, drilling, cutting, and sawing.
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, technology, and heavy machinery safely, with adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
- Read and review documents on electronic devices and in hard copy, observe details at close range, and accurately exchange information in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Drive to and from work and client sites as business needs require.
- May be exposed to loud noise environments.
Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Work/Base Location: West Palm Beach
Core Work Hours/Availability: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and as business needs require.
