Golf Grounds Assistant Superintendent at HANSEN PROPERTIES INC – Blue Bell, Pennsylvania

Blue Bell Country Club is a private country club designed by Arnold Palmer, which was opened in 1994. BBCC is located 45 minutes north of Philadelphia in Blue Bell, PA.

The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the superintendent on all facets of the golf course operation, including capital project management, IPM programs, budget development, and equipment maintenance. Individuals must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills, and willing to go the extra mile for the betterment of BBCC. He or She must demonstrate strong computer skills to maintain record keeping, daily and yearly scheduling, and data tracking. The assistant must be willing to work weekends throughout the year.

• Work under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent
• Supervise golf course maintenance operations and employees as required and assigned
• Determine work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow
• Assist in the supervision and control of all maintenance expenses associated with golf course operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers
• Supervise and participate in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the golf course in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
• Assist in overseeing the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wetlands
• · Assist in the mowing and maintenance of golf course fairways, rough, greens, tee area and other open space areas; changing cups; raking the bunkers; oversee and assist in the maintenance of sprinkler systems and the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads
• Oversee the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering, and the pest and weed control of the golf course
• Supervise and assist the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning, and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements and tending to high stress areas
• Oversee employees in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
• Assist in supervising and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the golf course in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
• Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens
• Ability to use arithmetic to measure, compute amount of materials to use, and to inspect product and be sure it confirms to requirements
• Schedule maintenance practices around play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to golfers
• Promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Turfgrass Management
• 2 years' experience on high end golf course
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Project management is preferred
• Strong knowledge with Irrigation (Install and maintenance)
• Experience in Fertilizer and sprayer calibration
• Proficient in computer record keeping
• Solid knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf construction and maintenance work
• Ability to work outside for long periods of time and in all kinds of weather, performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance
