About This Position
Caprock Academy is seeking a Part-time High School Theater/Theater Tech/Humanities Teacher. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.
Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades K–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. High School Theater/Theater Tech/Humanities teachers are classroom professionals responsible for planning and delivering components of the educational programs, being part of an active faculty dedicated to ambitious student achievement. Successful applicants will work closely with other instructors. Applicants should be dedicated to the mastery of an academic discipline and knowledge-based curriculum.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Part-time
WORK HOURS:
PAY RANGE: Starting salary range $25,200 depending on experience and education
REPORTS TO: High School Dean
Requirements:Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive theater curriculum
- Direct and choreograph school productions
- Provide individual and group instruction to students
- Collaborate with other theater and arts staff to plan and execute events and performances
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Stay current with industry trends and developments in theater education
- Create lesson plans aligned with classical education philosophy.
- Research and gather resources and materials needed for lesson units.
- Collaborate, problem-solve and plan with grade level team.
- Set up classroom materials and equipment.
- Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students.
- Conduct testing and evaluate student work and assessments individually and as a grade level team.
- Implement student plans with fidelity (IEP, 504, ALP, safety, etc).
- Conduct student interventions when needed.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant state, federal, and local laws, and regulations (including Colorado Charter School Institute)
- Receive direction from and implement strategies recommended by instructional coaches and academic interventionists.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, other faculty, students, and parents.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional developments and other meetings as needed (RTI, parent-teacher conferences, student plans, etc).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (teaching license preferred).
- Classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Desire and willingness to promote the mission and values of the school.
- Demonstrated effective classroom-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members.
- Professional and personal integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience directing and choreographing school productions
- Knowledge of a wide range of theater styles and techniques
- Ability to integrate technology and other creative elements into the curriculum
- Strong connections within the theater and arts communities
