About This Position

Position Title: Documentation Specialist 1/2

Location: Omaha, NE, United States

Job Description: This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the levels posted, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

This position manages the data maintenance process for relational databases and records systems used within the NNG Pipeline Facility and Operational Records department. This includes data from construction, ROW, Legal Regulatory, Environmental, Safety, Purchasing, Design, Engineering, Facility Planning, and Operations (maps and records databases).

Responsibilities: Acquires and analyzes design drawings, sketches, and photographs in order to create or update a project to "as-built" status.

Provides records collection and analysis services for assigned projects to support the management of current and historical documentation, as well as adherence to relevant budgets, schedules, etc.

Reviews and updates reports and other information to monitor the department's costs to service projects and makes recommendations to ensure costs remain within budget and on schedules.

Provides work direction or guidance to unit personnel and manages the activities of third party contractors relative to implementing documentation and/or design processes.

Reviews and ensures that sound engineering/design principals are applied to all engineering drawings and other documents.

Verifies that all documents are in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations governing business operations (DOT, FERC, OSHA, PSM, Enron, etc).

Plans all aspects of assigned projects from Operations and develops schedules based on priorities and time constraints.

Consults with users in the planning and implementation of computer systems and applications for "as-built" and document management. Conducts research in order to recommend improvements or enhancements of system based on user needs.

Conducts or assists in training users as new and emerging technologies become available.

Provides research services and assistance in obtaining vital drawings and other documentation as requested by customers.

Participates in task groups, conferences, and training sessions to streamline or re-engineer processes as needed.

Assists the emergency management team when necessary.

Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

The documentation specialist 1 requires two or more years of related experience, preferably in the energy industry.

The documentation specialist 2 requires five or more years of related experience, preferably in the energy industry.

Must have an extensive background and knowledge of the NNG pipeline system including compressor stations, town border stations, interconnects and pipeline systems.

Must have an extensive background and knowledge in all phases of engineering design techniques, engineering codes, standards, procedures, document management, and records experience in the natural gas industry.

Extensive experience with computer aided design (AutoCAD) and/or document management graphic imaging software applications and related hardware.

Must have a working knowledge of the gas pipeline industry, plants, and pipeline systems.

Must be able to effectively interface with external persons with differing priorities and needs and work in a team environment.

Must be detail oriented, accurate and sensitive to conflicting deadlines.

Experienced with PC software such as MS Word, Excel and Access.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
