Job Title: Steel Construction Project Manager
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift
Compensation: Up to $85,000 annually, based on experience
Travel: 10 to 15% local travel with mileage reimbursement

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee structural steel fabrication and installation projects from kickoff through completion. This role is responsible for keeping projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety expectations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze construction documents, including structural and shop drawings, to establish project scope and requirements
  • Coordinate activities between fabrication teams, detailers, field personnel, and contractors to ensure smooth execution
  • Build and manage project timelines, making adjustments to maintain deadlines
  • Track material orders and deliveries to support project schedules
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and internal safety standards
  • Visit job sites as needed to assess progress, lead discussions, and resolve installation or sequencing issues
  • Handle project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Proactively address challenges related to fabrication, scheduling, and field operations
Required Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects within structural steel fabrication or erection
  • Strong ability to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction specifications
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AWS and AISC
  • Experience working with fabrication shops, field crews, and subcontractors
  • Proven organizational and project coordination skills
  • Experience managing project budgets and cost controls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and jobsite safety practices
  • Experience with Tekla Structures or Tekla PowerFab is a plus
