Remote Payments & Privacy Counsel

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Payments & Privacy Counsel. In this crucial role, you will be a trusted advisor ensuring that all products, licenses, and partnerships comply with applicable payments regulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Risk, Product, and Business Development, enabling the organization to navigate complex regulatory environments effectively. Accountabilities
  • Advise on U.S. and EU payments regulations, including state money transmission laws and federal banking regulations.
  • Partner with Compliance and Licensing teams on MTL applications and international licenses.
  • Draft cardholder agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with banks and payment processors.
  • Provide guidance on consumer protection and data privacy requirements.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel on regulatory issues.
  • Assist with regulatory responses and participate in audits.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting payments and fintech.
Requirements
  • JD from a top-level law program; preference for U.S. trained lawyers.
  • 5-8 years of legal experience focused on payments and fintech.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. and EU payments regulations.
  • Experience in commercial contracts and regulatory issues for fintech.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, comfortable working across teams.
  • Experience with GDPR and data protection frameworks.
  • Bonus: Prior in-house experience at a fintech or payments company.
