The Tax Manager supports the company’s global tax activities by providing technical expertise, operational execution, and analytical support. This role assists in implementing and maintaining tax strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, and providing tax planning input to support business objectives.
The Tax Manager contributes to optimizing tax efficiency, managing tax risk, and identifying tax savings opportunities under the direction of leadership. This role supports the resolution of complex tax issues, recommends improvements to tax processes, and serves as a key point of coordination for tax-related matters across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the implementation and execution of the organization’s tax strategy to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, minimize tax liabilities, and identify tax efficiency opportunities.
- Provide technical analysis and guidance on international tax matters, including transfer pricing, tax treaties, and value-added taxes, to support the organization’s tax position.
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax laws, regulations, and policies to identify potential risks and opportunities, escalating findings and recommendations to leadership as appropriate.
- Collaborate with functional and operational teams (including Finance, Accounting, and Legal) to support tax planning and compliance activities aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax, withholding tax, and other required tax filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Assist with tax audits and controversies by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with external advisors and tax authorities.
- Support Finance leadership with tax planning, forecasting, and analysis, including assessing tax implications of business decisions and identifying potential tax savings opportunities.
- Coordinate and respond to internal and external tax-related requests, including those from auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain working relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and service providers to stay informed on best practices and emerging tax developments.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or Law, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree in Taxation, such as a Master's in Taxation or a Law degree, preferred
- Professional certifications, such as CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Chartered Tax Advisor, highly desirable
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and tax software applications
- Fluent spoken and written English, with ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals
- Working knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and treaties, with experience in tax planning and compliance
- Relevant experience with tax technology platforms, such as tax provision software or global tax management systems, preferred
- Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, a plus
- 7+ years of relevant working experience in a tax function, preferably within a multinational corporation or a global tax consulting firm
- 2+ years of people management experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing tax teams
- Ability to work independently, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with a strong sense of prioritization and time management
- Strong ability to coordinate action across a dispersed workforce, with experience in managing and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to analyze complex tax data and develop strategic recommendations
- Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex tax issues, and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems and minimize tax risk
- Have solid knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and treaties, with experience in tax planning, compliance, and controversy
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals and stakeholders
- Competent in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and experience with tax software applications and technology platforms

Compensation:
Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with qualifications and performance taken into account.
VB Spine reserves the right to offer compensation outside of this listed range. Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors, including experience level, skillset, and market conditions.
