The Controller will oversee day to day accounting functions

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities, among others, include the following:

• Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and produce accurate financial reports
• Analyze financial reports and develop new financial strategies to achieve company goals.
• Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide company expenditures.
• Maintain and analyze job cost tracking, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
• Oversee budget preparation and cash flow forecasting
• Monitor project financials and support project managers with financial reporting, cost control, and forecasting
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant tax regulations
• Coordinate with external accountants, bonding agents, and auditors as needed including for the preparation of tax returns.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Support executive team with financial planning, reporting, and analysis
• Assumes other special activities and responsibilities as required.
• Manage financial aspect of new equipment acquisitions including purchases, leases, rentals etc.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a construction environment
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles (job costing, WIP, retainage, etc.)
• Proficient in Excel and financial modeling
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust accordingly as new priorities are presented.
• Familiarity with subcontractor compliance & lien laws in Florida.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with bonding agents and preparing financials for surety purposes
• Knowledge of underground utilities, site work, or civil construction is a plus
• Experience working in Pro Contractor
• Experience with ADP and payroll processing is preferred but not required
