About the role

Product Owner is highly organized, product-focused to serve as a critical link between business strategy and engineering execution. This role is responsible for owning and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring that all work delivered by the team aligns with business objectives and maximizes value for end users. The position defines and communicates the “what” and “why” behind initiatives, while fostering an Agile environment that enables the team to effectively execute the “when” and “how.” Acting as a servant-leader, this role facilitates Scrum ceremonies, removes obstacles, and drives continuous improvement to support high-performing, cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities: (Duties are illustrative and not inclusive and may vary.)

Product Ownership & Requirements

  • Strategic Alignment: Work closely with stakeholders to understand the business roadmap and translate high-level goals into actionable Initiatives and Epics.
  • Value-Driven Prioritization: Manage and prioritize the product backlog based on ROI, user impact, and business urgency.
  • User-Centric Stories: Draft detailed User Stories and Acceptance Criteria that focus on the end-user experience and business outcomes.

Agile Leadership (Scrum Master)

  • Sprint Orchestration: Lead all standard ceremonies (Daily Stand-up, Planning, Review, and Retrospectives).
  • Flow Management: Monitor team capacity and velocity to provide realistic timelines to leadership.
  • Removing Friction: Identify and clear organizational or resource-based "roadblocks" that slow the team down.

Quality Assurance & Release Management

  • Test Case Alignment: Partner with the dev team to ensure that test cases accurately reflect the business requirements and edge cases defined in the user stories.
  • Defect Prioritization: Lead the "Bug Triage" process, helping the team decide which defects are critical for release and which can be deferred.
  • Release Readiness: Coordinate with the other teams like DevOps and QA to ensure that every release is documented, validated, and ready for deployment.

Project Governance & Communication

  • Milestone Tracking: Provide clear, non-technical status reporting on project progress, risks, and health.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage expectations across the organization, ensuring everyone is aligned on delivery dates.
  • Other Duties Assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Education: 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Business, Computer Science, or Healthcare Administration preferred).
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in Health Software development.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a working knowledge of DICOM imaging standards and medical imaging workflows (PACS, VNA, or clinical viewing tools).
  • Certifications: Active certification in Project Management or Agile methodologies, such as: PMP (Project Management Professional), CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or PSM (Professional Scrum Master) or CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner).
  • Quality & Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with the rigorous quality standards required in health tech (e.g., HIPAA compliance, FDA regulations, or ISO standards).
  • Communication: Superior ability to distill complex business and clinical needs into simple, actionable requirements for the development team.
  • Tooling: Expert-level knowledge of Jira (or similar) for backlog health, defect tracking, and release management.
